I visited Pismo Beach for a few days and took advantage of Kon Tikki Inn’s partnership with PBAC. As a hotel guest, I had access to PBAC’s amenities and group classes. I took the following classes and loved every one of them:
-Zumba with Lauren
-High Low Fitness with Linda & Sarema
-Aqua Aerobics with Kari
Just know that you have to reserve your spot for a class on the MindBody app. You can do that up to 4 days in advance so set your reminders!
Not to mention, everyone in PBAC is so friendly : the staff, members, and teachers. I appreciate that the teachers noticed that I was a newcomer and they warmly welcomed me.
Great staff! Persie showed me around and made me feel like family on day 1!
I want to express my gratitude to Manager Ryan Tomich for his patient help in navigating a manufactures website. My Joola pickleball paddle broke and he was able to work thru their website to get my paddle returned and replaced. He accomplished in 10 minutes what I couldn’t in 2 hrs from home! He went above and beyond his regular responsibilities to help out a member.
Ryan does a great job for the members of PBAC and we all appreciate his patience and professionalism.
I have been attending this gym for quite a while perhaps 4 years and today I decided to post a review of my overall daily experiences. The staff has always been nice, each and everyone of you guys is doing a phenomenal job keep it up. The gym is wonderful and all but it lacks on plenty of things. After it closed and I came back there is no more complementary bags after showers and such, the fan in the locker room is gone which creates a very humid uncomfortable environment. The remodel in the pool/jacuzzi area is great work. Equipments are still the same after the come back, sadly same old equipments unlike the competitive gyms around the area. In the locker room/showering area there is no lotion, after shave cream, Q-tips, blow dryers etc. Lots of senior citizens, rare to find young people. Limited parking spots. The gym closes super early and they don’t open Sundays which makes it inconvenient sometimes.
I highly recommend PBAC. I call it the Pismo Beach Friendly Club. The front desk staff are sweet and welcoming and they love to say Yes! I mainly swim but I also do yoga there. People in the pool have always been so gracious offering to share a lane [pre-covid] or acknowledging you if you're waiting. In the locker room people greet each other nicely too. I like the yoga class and I love swimming where I'm not feeling a cold wind outside of the water.
I struggled with whether not to change gyms because the staff was nice. But the equipment is old and outdated. Most of it is from the early 90s or late 80s. It is rusted and hard to gauge what you are actually lifting. I received a rash from their pool. There is no childcare. They have a decent view, but after what the owner just did to one of the members. I am done here.
I’m giving my favorite gym 2 stars!!! Why? Decent little gym, jacuzzi and dry sauna is cool. I’m not paying extra for the pool though, and they are still dragging out this 8pm closing time. If I could get a nice pump and then sweat it out in the sauna starting around 8pm it would be a 5/5 star facility, they’re cutting us short.
Giving one star for how absurdly overpriced this membership is now just to use the pool. $60 for a "normal" membership is already bad enough. $70 for pool access is absolutely obscene. Now you have to use a third-party app and make reservations to swim as well. There is also supposedly a $5 "no show" fee for not "checking in" and using your time slot?? This is an absolute joke, and management should be ashamed. Save your money and go to Kennedy for a cheaper membership ($50) that includes pool access.
